On Saturday 18th June 2016 the second Pride of South Holland Awards were Hosted by Tulip Radio along with the Spalding and South Holland Voice and the Spalding and District Area Chamber of Commerce. Coronation Street star Andy Whyment presented certificates and trophies to the winners and runners up.
The judges had a difficult job narrowing the field with more than 90 nomination's.
Tulip Radio would like to thank everyone who participated and supported this year's Pride of South Holland Awards.

On Saturday 11th June 2016 Tulip Radio Attended This year’s Pinchbeck Carnival this year’s theme was ‘90 Glorious Years’ to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday. The village’s annual parade left Wimberley Way at noon, travelling around Pinchbeck and back down Rotten Row to the playing field. This year’s main arena act were the Welsh Axemen, who displayed two entertaining 30-minute shows, including chainsaw carving, chainsaw races, underhand block racing and springboard tree climbs. As Mel’s Zumba provided some fitness display and the Breaston Highlanders. Once again a flypast was conducted which saw a Battle of Britain Spitfire.

On Sunday 21st February 2016, members of the community and Armed Forces personnel joined Tulip Radio as part of a Charity Bingo session at Regent Bingo in Spalding.
Together, we raised funds for the Armed Forces, the Royal British Legion, Royal Naval Association, the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment, SSAFA and Help for Heroes.
Many wonderful prizes were donated, including a 32 inch Television for the raffle. We would like to thank Justin Minkah, the staff at Regent Bingo, MD Mark Jepp for allowing this event to take place, the Veterans and the families and friends who helped make this a wonderful event.

The School Choir Competition made a return this year. Six schools battled it out to win themselves some themselves great prizes. Thank you to Mark Jepp from Majestic Bingo, Paul Watkins-Groves from EMG, Spalding's Town Centre Manager Dennis Hannant and the Editor of the Free Press Jeremy Ransom for judging the competition. Third place - Spalding Priory School, second place St. John the Baptist Primary School and the winner of this year's School Choir Competition was Ayscoughfee Hall School. All participating Schools will receive their prizes at the School Choir Prize Giving Finale on Friday 4th December at St. John the Baptist Parish Church from 10am. The Spalding & South Holland Festival of Food & Drink took place at the South Holland District Council Offices car park. It was an ideal opportunity for The Community to come and sample excellent food and drink from across Lincolnshire. The festival featured a wide range of food based activities, beer tasting, farmer's markets and children’s crafts.

Bakkavor hosted its successful Family Fun Day
and it’s Party in the Park event.
It was another day of fun and excitement for the workers
from different Bakkavor sites. The main event during the day was the ‘It’s a Knockout’ contest, a competition that challenged the workers from different sites against each other, to prove once and for all who was the best of the best. In the evening, a fabulous concert was hosted by the ever funny Ali Jay who got us all set for a great night of music. ABBA Gold serenaded us with classic ABBA hits, Radius 45 showered us their great local talent and Spalding’s Town Centre Manager, Dennis Hannant, got the party started. On Sunday, in association with The Spalding and Welland Rotary club, Bakkavor held their Car Boot Sale. A huge thank you and a massive well done to everyone who was involved in organising a great weekend. All proceeds went to three Local Charities: Spalding Guide Dogs for the Blind, South Holland PHAB and Spalding Breakfast Club. |

The local community gathered at the South Holland Centre on Saturday 11
July to see Certificates and Trophies presented to the Winners of the 1st Pride of South Holland Awards.
The Awards were launched this year by The Spalding and South Holland Voice with Tulip Radio, Spalding and District Area Chamber of Commerce and were sponsored by the South Holland District Council. Coronation Street star Antony Cotton presented Certificates and Trophies to the winners. |

All over South Holland, people have been clicking their knitting needles to create a giant piece of artwork for Spalding in Bloom. From crocheting in church craft groups to scrunched-paper art from primary schools, fabulous flower displays lovingly hand-made by talented crafters. They have been brought together to form a vast collage of tulips. Organiser Jan Whitbourn said: “So many people have been inspired to get creative to celebrate our beautiful town. There are over 60 canvases full of magical creations to brighten up the place and make people smile.

Pinchbeck Carnival returned again this year at Rotten Row Playing field to bring the community a spectacular carnival with a wide range of live acts to entertain the audience. There were also craft stalls, food stalls and a display of classic cars, as well as the carnival parade. |

Tulipmania took place on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd May. The event featured a variety of Arts and Craft stalls, filling Springfields Event Center and entertainment performed by the WATOTO Children's Choir, Frozen, Radius 45 and many other local artists Peppa Pig also made an appearance on Saturday, with tulip radio's tulipa . Sunday saw the return of the Classic Car Show,with spectacular displays from small minis to military vehicles with lots more entertainment from local artists throughout the day.

| Tulip Radio has been a full time Radio Station serving the community in South Holland and beyond for five years having previously held an RSL Licence for 8 Years.We regularly help organise various events within South Holland and get involved with many projects involving the community and local schools. This year a team of volunteers working alongside Spalding’s Town Centre Manager Dennis Hannant have helped weed and plant new flowers in Sainsbury's Car Park. |

Throughout the summer of 2010, Tulip Radio teamed up with Lincolnshire Education Business Partnership and Mediabox to provide training to young people in the community. The School’s Sound project included a day at Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership’s road safety centre in North Kyme. Tulip Radio were delighted to be honoured with an Investors in Education Award in 2008 at a ceremony in Lincoln. This prestigious award was given to us in recognition of our efforts over the past 4 years, to involve young people from local Spalding schools in various projects run within South Holland. We were thrilled to receive it and the recognition it acknowledges will encourage us to further increase our commitment to our local schools.
Tulip Radio also supports the two special schools in the town, the Priory School, and the Garth School. With pupils from the Priory School taking part in the media course on both phases, we also supported the Garth School when a group of pupils visited the studios and had a go at talking into the microphone, providing a valuable extra-curricular activity and hands-on experience to stimulate the pupils.
Tulip Radio has been an exhibitor at the Skills Market, a careers fair for South Holland, with over 1800 students attending. We gave students the opportunity to mix music tracks, and use a basic 'outside broadcast' setup. The visiting students were very keen to participate, and enjoyed the experience of working with music.
In the second phase of the training, in addition to other students coming in small groups, students from the Gleed Boys School GCSE Media Studies course attended the station to find out what went on at a real radio station. They were given an 'away from the textbook' experience, with the workshop focusing specifically on podcasting.
We established our Media Broadcasting Course in 2004 as a pilot, developing into a full course with two waves of intake in 2005/2006 and 2006/2007. The course was a resounding success with many students from local schools including Gleed Boys, Gleed Girls, Spalding High and the Priory School benefiting from the training.
