Crowland Cancer Fund
The Fund was set up by Frank Barrett following his own treatment for cancer and to date has raised close to £400,000. Our ethos is to provide those items which will make the lives of cancer sufferers and their families easier. We try to concentrate our efforts in the areas where Crowland folk are treated and we do not support research. All our funds apart from running expenses are distributed each March and here are a few of the causes we have recently helped.
1. We have provided funds to The Teenage Cancer Trust towards the opening of a ward at Addenbrookes.
2. We have furnished a 'breaking bad news' room at Edith Cavell.
3. We have provided the funds to equip a bathroom for parents in the intensive care room on Amazon Ward at PDH.
4. We have furnished the cafe at Sue Ryder Care Home and provided special wheel chairs, hoists and beds for them.
5. We have sponsored a nurse for a year for Marie Curie.
So you see that we like to spread the money as far as it will go. Our shop in East Street Crowland is open from 10 till 4 for 7 days of the week selling everything except clothing - we have a large library, records, linen, curtains, bric a brac crockery cutlery glasses etc. Our Warehouse is open on Saturdays in Crease Drove from 10am till 4pm and has a large stock of furniture of all sorts and white goods when available. We are able to offer a collection and delivery service.
Without the support of local people we would not be able to do the work that we do. If you could let people know about us that would be great you can contact our Chairman Frank Barrett on or myself on .
